Design Challenge: A husband and wife with different work styles shared a home office. The spare room they used wasn’t intended to be an office and had none of the features a working office needs. Instead they worked at computers on a long folding table and files were stored in free standing black cabinets.
Solution: Indicia’s design called for creating two custom computer workstations with vertical cubbies and framed tackboards. Each workstation is tailored to the client’s individual work styles. He likes to keep projects in front of him in cubbies, while she prefers to file what isn’t immediately needed. To maximize convenience and function, the workstations are defined and separated with an oval granite-topped conference table that adjoins custom file cabinets and a built-in niche for a shared printer and fax machine. Clear-coated maple floor-to-ceiling shelves are spaced throughout the room, which gives the room a library feel and creates space for sculptures and artwork. The walls are painted a warm terracotta and hand-blown Italian pendant lamps light the conference table.

“Thank you for making our house a home to be proud of for any occasion. We appreciate your talent and can’t thank you enough for all you have done. We look forward to future projects.” — Eric & Kim O.
